Dare to Change Your Paradigm!

Next, do research about your idea. For example, if you’re looking at being a Silver or a Platinum, research and learn all you can about the aspects of being that person and what it takes to get there. Study your business; study the market.

Look at the pitfalls. Look at the negative things. Look at everything. Because that’s how you make a firm decision of what you really want to do with your life. It doesn’t matter what it is, whether you’re buying a franchise for an auto parts store or you’re going to be a Royal Crown Diamond; it’s the same principle.


What empowers us to build a business? What enables us to be successful? Changing our paradigm, changing our belief system, changing how we see ourselves! Do I see myself being successful, or do I see myself going down to the welfare office and getting food stamps? I can change my outcome by changing how I see myself.

Some would say it’s fear that keeps us from doing this, and I say, no, it’s not fear. I’ve heard people say the greatest fear is public speaking. If that were true, I wouldn’t be up here on this stage. Public speaking is not the greatest fear. You know what the greatest fear is? It’s taking the risk to change your paradigm.


Recipe: Young Living Holiday Wassail

Sharing a steaming cup of wassail with friends and family is a great way to celebrate the holiday season. This festive beverage can be made even better with the inclusion of the delicious flavors of Clove, Cinnamon Bark, and Tangerine essential oils! Try making this essential oil-infused recipe to set the mood for any holiday occasion.


6 c. Apple Cider/Apple JuiceTangerine Vitalityd

2 c. Pineapple Juice

5 drops Clove Vitality

5 drops Cinnamon Bark Vitality

5 drops Tangerine Vitality 

Optional Ingredients:

(Try one or a mixture of any of the below)

4 Tbsp. Organic Dried WolfberriesNutmeg Vitality Essential Oils

1-2 Slique Tea Bags

2 oz. NingXia Red

2 drops Ginger Vitality

2 drops Nutmeg Vitality


Add all ingredients to a 3-quart pot. Turn stove to medium/high and heat until hot. Serve and enjoy!

For added benefit, set the post to simmer to keep your home smelling festive throughout the day. You may need to add 1-2 drops of additional oils if the mixture stays on the burner for many hours—as you are essentially diffusing these ingredients into the air.

Spiced Mango Soup Recipe

We can’t get enough of using ripe mangoes in easy and healthy food recipes—from mango salsa to mango-banana smoothies. That’s why this easy, healthy soup recipe is one of our favorite recipes featuring the late-summer treat. With a pinch of heat from chilies, richness from coconut cream, and a punch of flavor from Vitality™ essential oils, this fresh and bright vegetarian soup recipe is a delicious first course for a Thai-inspired meal to impress friends or a quick-prep, easy dinner idea for busy weeknights.

Spiced Thai Mango Soup Recipe


  • 2 tablespoons butter or unrefined coconut oil
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 large ripe mangoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 quart vegetable broth
  • 1 chili pepper, seeded and minced
  • 1 bunch cilantro, stems removed
  • 4 tablespoons coconut cream, whipped
  • 2 drops Lemongrass Vitality™
  • 1 drop Cinnamon Bark Vitality™
  • Pinch of white pepper
  • Pinch of salt


  1. In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt butter or coconut oil. Add onions and sauté until translucent.
  2. Add minced garlic and sauté until aromatic.
  3. Add diced ripe mangoes, vegetable broth, and chili pepper.
  4. Reduce heat and let simmer for 15–20 minutes.
  5. Whip coconut cream; set aside.
  6. Pour broth mixture into a blender and puree until soup-like.
  7. Add cilantro then blend again and pour back into saucepan.
  8. Add essential oils to the whipped coconut cream.
  9. Gently stir the cream into the soup.
  10. Add salt and pepper.
  11. Serve and garnish with fresh cilantro.

Dream to Overcome Negativity

2017_Convention_Gary_Friday.022Capture an idea and dream about it. Now, this is where you can start taking control of your negative thoughts and emotions. This is where I would go when I would start feeling like giving up, because I had all these doctors telling me it was impossible. We had three doctors in Houston tell Mary and Mark, my pilot, and me that I should have been dead four different times. Well, what do they know about dying? That’s an individual thing.

You want to get out of that mindset. You capture an idea and dream about it. You dream about it until that’s all you see. Then talk about your idea with your family and friends. Maybe it’s about: I want to run a marathon, or I want to be a Gold.

Talk to your family and friends. Why do you talk to your family and friends first? Because you want to get any negativity past you. You want to get all of the “That’s crazy. I’ve never heard anything so foolish. That’s multilevel stuff; why would you want to do that?” You want to get that kind of talk out of the way! Then you can start focusing forward. Study your idea in your mind; rehearse it, look at it, and analyze it. Scrutinize it so you start putting a plan to that idea of how you’re going to do it.


Now, if you’re actively engaging your brain in doing this, you know what your brain is not doing? It’s not telling you to give up. It’s not telling you to feel sorry for yourself. It’s not telling you it’s impossible. It’s not telling you the doctor’s right. You’re focusing your brain on an idea that’s outside yourself that’s bigger than you.

1. From the earth

The vetiver plant is a perennial grass native to tropical regions in Asia. Vetiver is a fragrant grass with long stems and flowers, but Vetiver essential oil is derived from the root of the plant. Vetiver roots can grow 7–10 feet long, and their deep, tangled webs help make the plant tolerant against drought and protect against soil erosion.

Vetiver oil is steam distilled from the root of the vetiver plant. It produces a warm, woodsy scent that’s slightly sweet and earthy.

The woody, earthy scent has been used for its fragrance for centuries, and a popular use of Vetiver is adding a warm aroma to men’s soaps and colognes. You can create a personalized scent by adding Vetiver essential oil as a base note for a masculine DIY perfume.

4. Study scent

Relax from head to toe with a warm bath, aided by the calming aroma of 15–20 drops of Vetiver oil added to your evening soak. If you want to dim the lights and hit play on your favorite chill-out tunes, that’s between you and the Vetiver.

Einkorn: What it is and how to cook with it

You have heard of almond and rye flour, but did you know that the oldest form of wheat is called Einkorn and you can easily cook with it? Einkorn is a healthier, more natural choice that hasn’t been processed or modified. There is a lot of versatility when it comes to Einkorn Flour (the likes of which we will demonstrate below), and it has fewer quirks than other wheat options.

Give Yourself Permission to Have a Hard Day

There may be some days that you just don’t find a way to deal with “it”; and on those days, you just take it all in and say, “Okay, I’m not really at the top of my game today, but I’m going to get through this; and tomorrow will be a different day.”

There may be times when you don’t have the resources, mentally, physically, spiritually, to fight that day. So just sit back and give yourself permission to feel that way; it’s okay. Because if you don’t, you will fight harder and harder, and what you resist will persist.

I didn’t learn all of this overnight, and my family has been through a lot of uncomfortable moments because of my bad attitude when I would get down. I know what it’s like; I’ve been there several times, but this past year was the worst. So I started looking at ways I could fix it, things that I could do that would make things better, and how and what I could do to live with this until it’s better. Things don’t always change in the moment.

So, I’d like to share with you now my presentation on how to become successful in two weeks. Is anyone interested? Yes!


How you’re making the world a better place

Though most of our members couldn’t join Heather and other volunteers on a service trip to Uganda last July, each of you has played an integral part in supporting the work of The D. Gary Young, Young Living Foundation and its three partnerships in this region. Through donations, volunteer hours, and simply by working to build your Young Living business, you have made a difference. Because you couldn’t be there in person, we’re giving you an in-depth look at the Foundation’s most recent service trip and the organizations that are changing lives.

Healing Faith Uganda

A person dies every 60 seconds from malaria in Africa. Since 2011, Healing Faith Uganda has been a champion in the fight against malaria in Eastern Uganda, and the Foundation was thrilled to partner with them in 2015. With your generosity, the Foundation has contributed tens of thousands of dollars, hundreds of volunteers, and even helped build the Young Living Foundation Malaria Center, the first of its kind in Uganda.

The Malaria Center’s focus is on preventing malaria and treating victims of this terrible disease—particularly common in this area because of its proximity to Lake Victoria. On this trip to Uganda, member volunteers went from home to home delivering mosquito nets. With the Foundation’s help, Healing Faith Uganda went from hanging 400 nets a month to 4,000.

Other impact includes:
  • Educating and treating more than 90,000 individuals
  • Building a new center in August that can treat up to 100 patients a day
  • Saving lives with mosquito nets; a $5 donation buys one net, which can save the lives of four children
  • Testing and treating people with malaria for less than $2 a day

African Hearts

Your support of African Hearts has provided boys in need with clean beds, healthy food, school, and time to play and develop in a family environment. Members walked the corridors of the Kisenyi slums in Kampala—the biggest and most dangerous in Uganda—to treat minor ailments and feed the young boys who call the streets their home. Donations to the Foundation help fund every aspect of the slum program, including wellness treatments, meals, classes, and rescuing children from the streets and reuniting them with their families.

Donations to the Foundation also helped with:
  • Rescuing and restoring 30 boys from the streets so far in 2017, meaning they’ve been pulled from the slums, gone through a transitional home program, and are attending the African Hearts Junior school or have been reunited with their families
  • Feeding 500–600 boys per week, compared to 120–240 when the program first started
  • Treating wounds for 150–200 boys per week, compared to 30–40 when the program first started
  • Creating the Royalle Band, which has grown to more than 60 boys and performs all over Kampala and the surrounding areas

Sole Hope

Sole Hope uses donations from members like you to help people find hope, healthier lives, and freedom from foot-related diseases, with a special focus on helping them become free of jiggers—parasitic sand fleas that can lead to infection, amputation, and alienation. This includes jigger removal, treatment, education, shoes, and follow-up care.

While in Uganda, members washed children’s feet and helped the Sole Hope staff as they removed hundreds of jiggers from each patient’s feet and hands.

“We shared so many beautiful moments with the people of Uganda,” said Greg Larsen, Executive Director of the Foundation. “Our Young Living members came together as one in purpose to serve and become a voice for the voiceless. We all got to witness how each of our partnerships brings hope into the lives of the underserved and really empowers them through education and long-term change.”

Volunteers also helped the Foundation with:
  • Removing thousands of jiggers each week as they try to end the 200-year jigger tragedy in Uganda
  • Breaking ground on the new land where The D. Gary Young, Young Living Foundation Hope Center will be built; in this center, 40–50 patients a week will receive medical treatment and jigger removal

The Gem Foundation

In addition to these three organizations, the Foundation also visited and helped at a special needs orphanage called The Gem Foundation. Member and employee volunteers helped make meals, played with the children, and even helped plant trees so the organization can grow its own food and become self-sustaining.

Other impact includes:
  • Planting more than 300 trees on The Gem Foundation’s land
  • Taking in 50 special needs children, compared to 11 when they first started
  • Employing nearly 50 Ugandans

What impact have you made?

Your support has also helped the Foundation:
  • Raise nearly $1 million at the 2017 International Grand Convention
  • Raise more than $550,000 in 2016 through Essential Rewards round-ups; if everyone on Essential Rewards rounds up, we could raise more than $4 million in one year
  • Cover all administration fees, so when we say 100 percent of donations go toward these causes, we really mean it!

Defying the Death Sentence

Today, June 16, 2017, is a very special day for me in so many ways, because on November 15, 2016, I was told that I would be lucky if I lived 6 months. So, when I made it past six months, I turned over to Mary that morning and said, “Honey, how does it feel to be in bed with a dead man?”

You don’t have to put up with or believe anything you’re told unless you want to!

In the past year, Mary’s been told four or five times that I wouldn’t live. And again, just this past April, she was told once again! So, I’m here and am feeling better than I’ve felt in several years!

It hasn’t been easy, but has it been worth it? Yes. Have I had days when I wanted to quit? Yes. Have I had days of depression? Yes. I’m a human being and those are things that we deal with on a day-to-day basis, and we fight them if we want the right outcome. We put them behind us and find ways to deal with them.
